Principal Update 14th April 2020

Dear Parents, Guardians, Carers and Students

Today’s update to clarify the teaching and learning arrangements we are implementing at Bright P-12 College for Remote Learning. Attached to this Compass post are three documents: Staff expectations, Student expectations and Parent expectations. These three documents have been developed to give you some guidance for the coming term.

Today the staff have been mainly involved in virtual meetings to further plan for Remote Teaching and Learning. They have done a fantastic job. We are in a very good position now to springboard into this new virtual environment due to their dedicated efforts and that of our Leadership Team.

WEEK 2 ON-SITE PROVISION

Also attached to this Compass post is the application form for on-site attendance during Week 2 of this term. I have made some changes to the form, so please use this updated version.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ATTENDING ON-SITE

Attending school on-site will remain available in limited circumstances for:

  • Students on days or part-days when they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made. This will be available for children of parents who cannot work from home.

  • Vulnerable students.

Our purpose for On-site delivery will be as a community service to those parents who cannot work from home and have no other options available in order to allow them to continue their critical work during this pandemic. The focus of our on-site delivery will be the care, safety and learning of the children and staff attending. We do not want to put the staff and students attending at a much greater risk of contracting the virus than they would have if self-isolating at home.

Please email me the completed application for Week 2 by COB THURSDAY 16TH APRIL.

Due to the fact we have to provide a safe environment for the students attending I cannot accept late forms or students who turn up without approval on the day. We have to know the number of students in order to have adequate staff supervision.

Therefore NO FORM, NO GO.

VIRTUAL P&C COFFEE MEETING

The meeting that was planned for tomorrow has been postponed to a later date. More information will come out soon on how to join, time and date.

I hope you have a smooth start to Term 2 tomorrow.

Warm regards

Jean Olley

Principal
