Hello, it’s Mia and Mikka!
Today we visited Miyajima island by ferry. It was wonderful. We walked around a market place, there was lots to eat and look at. We then caught a gondola from the base to a bit more than halfway up Mount Miyajima which had incredible panoramic views of Hiroshima and the surrounding mountains and islands, where we had lunch. We hiked to many shrines and temples that were scattered along the way to the top of the mountain. The trees leaves were bright red, orange, pink and yellow. It was truly beautiful. We then hiked down the very steep mountain trail back to the base. Many of the boys and a few girls sprinted down, which Mr Henstridge wasn’t too happy about. At the bottom we took group photos with the famous Torii gate in the background, located just off the shore of Miyajima island. We then had an hour to look around and buy some food or presents. It was very crowded. We then left the island at 5.30pm to return back to Hiroshima for dinner. It was a very tiring day. It was Mia’s birthday today, so me and a few others took her to a cat cafe and it was really fun. The cats were so cute! I was very happy. Thank you Mikka. Overall it was a really fun day and we are all really pooped from all of the walking.
