Careers and Pathways
Our Careers Program caters for the individual needs of students as they progress through their education and consider options in further study, work and training. Careers Education is introduced into the timetable from Year 7 and students are offered individual guidance from qualified Career Practitioners from year 9. Key features of the College’s Careers and Pathways program include:
- Work Experience is offered in Year 10 for all students
- Vocational Education and Training Delivered in Secondary Schools (VETDSS) offers a range of study options for year 10 through year 12 students, run both in-house at the College and through local Tafe Colleges.
- All year 9 students complete a Morrisby profile, a personalised career profile to begin the discussion of interests and pathways.
- One on one career guidance is provided for all students from year 10 through year 11, including in subject selections and pathway planning for post school.
- For students pursuing further study after school, education and support is provided for tertiary study applications.
- All VCE-VM students participate in Structured Workplace Learning or complete a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT) as part of the curriculum.
- Year 9 students participate in a ‘Career Big Day In’ to showcase the breadth of opportunities available for careers and pathways.
- Students from 9-12 are offered the opportunity to register for a range of career-based excursions and incursions, to explore industries, workplaces and hands on practical days.
- The wealth of knowledge and experience in our College community is shared through lunch time career chats, whereby local community members share the career pathway and build connections.
Headstart
